Nilphamari Solar Project

Project Details

The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (GoB) have taken initiatives to encourage private investment in the power sector. The GoB has been encouraging private investments proactively. The country has a cumulative installed capacity of renewables is 559 MW, out of which solar capacity is 325.82 MW. In recent years, GoB has approved a significant number of investments in renewable capacity. A number of such projects are in advanced stages of construction.

The project will be developed by Scatec Solar through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named Bangla Sun Solar Limited (BSSL). The proposed project will be located in village Baish Pukur, Khalisa Chapani Union Parishad; Dimla Upazila in District Nilphamari of North Bangladesh. The power generated from the plant will be supplied to the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Jaldhaka Grid Sub-station (GSS), located at a distance of about 15 km from the site. The project has received approval from the Government of Bangladesh for setting up of 50 MW solar power project in Nilphamari District. The PPA for the project has been signed.
